Anyone ever have issues renovating worn cork grips with X Wrap and having the old cork rot because of trapped moisture?

Thank you whoever you are

Are you experiencing problems or trying to find out if you will down the road?
I have done and repaired grips with Xwrap. Folks like the look of the end result.
If the surface is cleaned and dried first then sprayed with an adhesive like that canned 3M one, no problems after a year or so.
Some grips have very big holes/gaps that would show through the xwrap you can fill with wood filler first.

No problems yet. I posted some pics of some handles I renovated on another site and another person raised a question about the cork rotting under the x wrap. He was told not to do this by a local factory rod manufacturer. The cork was dry as a bone before the installation, but I can see water being able to get to the face of the cork.
