9wt fly blank

I don't build or fish heaveir rods often, but I want to build a rod mostly for pike. It may see some salmon and stippers if I ever make the trip I want too. All in all it won't be used more than 2-3 times a year so I don't want anything thing real expensive. I was looking at the the winston vapor and the quickline. I can get both in a 9wt for around $80. I like the looks of the ccs data on the quickline but can't find much info at all on the vapor. Does anyone have experience on either? or recommend something different?

Thanks,
Bob

Rainshadow IF909. 9' for 9 Wt, 2-piece. 4-piece also available for a little more. Good value and great performance at about $87 retail. I don't have experience with the Winston blank you mention however.

I'm waiting for an excuse to build a Quickline 9wt. From the ccs data it looks like a winner. Perfect for the stripers I catch around here. I saw those Vapor blanks, too. Can't help you there.

Bob,
Could I inquire where you found the Vapor blanks available ??
I haven't seen where they were available to the public, but have always been a huge fan of Winston.
I've never cast a finer smoother rod line. All their rods have been true to weight and butter smooth.

Thanks,
Gene

Eugene,
unhide your email or email me, and I will send you the link. The vapor was there second from the bottom series the last couple years and has been discontinued. I emailed them and they said the vapor 9wt was stiffer and more powerful than the BIIX 9wt which is on sale for $200
