i found a nice blank that i want to try out but its a spinning blank and i need a casting blank has anybody build a casting rod on a spinning blank, and what would the difference be of the 2 blanks they make a casting blank but its only 7ft and the spinning one is 7,6 i need the extra length. The blank doesn't care what you make it into, if the line/lure/action/power ratings meet your needs, then build away. Two of my personal favorite casting rods where built on blanks listed by the manufacturer as spinning blanks. Ray Zarychta Glastonbury, CT Re: blanks

The designation "spinning" or "casting" applied to a blank is a marketing ploy rather than useful information. This is true of many, if not most labels used in marketing descriptions of rod blanks and rods. The best and most reputable blank manufacturers use these essentially non-informative but attractive labels. Compare the listed physical characteristics of two blanks of the same model by the same manufacturer, one blank listed as a spinning blank, the other listed as a casting blank. Odds are the two will be physically identical. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
