I'm going to attempt my first marbling on a rod. My question is do i have to put a primer on the rod first than the white, or can i just put the white on? Re: Marbling

You have to put some sort of base down, whether it's clear finish or tinted finish is up to you. I think mudhole has some youtube videos showing the process. [www.youtube.com]
When I started building, I got some good advice from Kenneth Price; wait for the finish to set up a bit. This will help keep the colors from running. If you want them to blend some, hit them with a heat gun or hair dryer. Just watch the dust. On the ones I have done, I have tinted the finish white, black, and left it clear for the base coat. I use testors paint. Bullards Pigments are also awesome and huge selection of colors. Good Luck. Jeremy W. Reed Reed Rods Custom Fishing Rods and Outdoor Gear Edited 1 time(s). One other thing you can do is to mix some pigment with your epoxy and apply. You do need it to set up and cure (epoxy) that helps with the bleeding.
Good Luck!! Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
