I have been asked to remove a cork grip and replace it with a split EVA grip on a G.Loomis rod. I have done this very succesfully several times using cork ,working from the butt. Everything I read says EVA needs a tight fit. Will this be possible from the butt ? Can the adhesive fill the gap on the top end ? Do I use contact cement or epoxy ? Any suggestions would be appreciated. Re: Need EVA Help

It doesn't need to be tight, just snug. I suggest a thread shim on the forward part of the butt, layering it to create a straight taper for the EVA to sit on. Make sure you get good epoxy contact with all mating surfaces.

I have also used masking tape as Tom said as a shim for a snug fit. Good epoxy and has held up well. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
