FSW118-4-MHX Recommended spacing?

Having trouble locating a starting point for the guide layout on this guy. This is my first switch rod. Can't be too much different that a fly rod, right?
I am considering just starting with a 10'-8" switch rod layout and static testing from there.
Thoughts?

Thanks
Josh

If I were doing it I would do just what you are doing. Start with the 10'8" switch rod spacing, move everything back about 4", add a running guide at the tip, and then do some static and cast testing.

Josh,
If you give me the anticipated distance from reel seat to tip and the number of guides you wish I could come up with some distances for you.
The anticipated tippet size and blank model or specs would also be useful.

Static test should tell you how many and where the guides should be placed Go with the flex of the blank
