I am building a spinning rod and put a metalic thread siz A under wrap down for all the guides as they are double footed. And The metalic thread was a pian in the A%S! the foil kept flaking and stretching on me. Is this normal or am I not suppose to use metalic as an under wrap or what? Re: Metalic thread under wrap

Sounds like you had too much tension on the thread. How were you tensioning the thread? Strong wraps, calm seas Derek Re: Metalic thread under wrap

Hi,
I use Gudebrod HT A Metallic for under wraps all the time, no problems. Use HT D as the guide wrap, no problems. Also now use Pro Wrap metallic, no problems. Capt Neil Faulkner Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 02/10/2012 01:03PM by Capt Neil Faulkner. Re: Metalic thread under wrap

Also using Gudebrod HT A Metallic red. I was using a thread bobin to hold the tension on my power wrapper Re: Metalic thread under wrap

That may be your issue, any tension applied directly to the foil will cause it to break. If you can, try applying the tension to the spool instead of the thread. I have used Guberod before and currently using Prowrap thread. Strong wraps, calm seas Derek Re: Metalic thread under wrap

The tread bobbin tensions the spool. you still may be too tight. I have had spools of that thread that were defective a few layers down. Same situation you speak of. Freddwhy (Rapt-Ryte) Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
