one more guide?

Hello rod builders, I am Just about to start wrapping the guides on my first build. The blank is a St. Croix 3C70MF, split grip with the screw end of the ACS seat apx. 14 inches from the butt, using an old ardent xs casting reel with 15lb fluoro. Gonna be for small plastics and soft swimbaits 3/16-3/8 oz (I did all my test casts with a 3/16 oz weight). I should also mention that I am doing a spiral wrap with Fuji sic guides(ss frame) sizes 10df, 8df, 7df, 6df, 6s, 6s, 6s, 6s? spaced from tip.. 3.25, 7.5, 12, 17, 23, 30.5, 40, 52.25 . The reason that last 6 has a question mark next to it is that it is the guide I'm not sure if I should use or not. Just looking for professional opinions, I know it a fairly subjective topic,. After static tests and a lot of test casting, I feel that I can get away without it, guides spaced from tip.. 5, 10.5, 16.5, 23, 30.5, 40, 52.5. But when test casting I almost feel it is smoother and definitely casts a few feet further consistently. But would it be looked down upon? Is it unnecessary weight and friction on the tip(I cant tell), am I just imagining it casts better with the extra guide? Is 3 inches abnormaly close to the tip top? Was my test cast weight ideal? Am I an idiot or am I just over thinking this. I wouldn't mind keeping that last 6 for a future build and saving myself five bucks next time, but if its a good idea I don't mind the slight extra expense. Thank you all by the way, I wouldn't have made it this far without all the reading of posts I've done on this forum the past four months. - J

You can drive yourself crazy thinking about stuff like this. The thing is, if the difference between using it or not is something you can't really pin down - you're just not sure, then it's probably not necessary. However, on the other side of the coin, it isn't likely to hurt anything either.

I'd use it and put my mind at rest. $5 is nothing against a lifetime of good use and peace of mind.

Thanks a lot Tom, I needed to hear that. By the way, your book was also a huge stepping stone for me.
