I have a couple of questions concerning finishes.
1. I have some DuraGloss U-40 Light I purchased a year ago which I use sometimes, but don't really like to Light. I also us the Thread Master which is thicker and like more. Can I put the Thread Master over the U-40 as a second coat or vise versa? 2. I put on an additional coat or coats within 12 - 18 hrs of the past coat - can I put on another coat say 2 or 3 days later or even a week without any problems? 3. I also have some Gudebond Regular finish I bought 2 or 3 years ago, is it still good to use? Thanks, you guys are great and a wealth of information to us 2 - 5 rods per year novice builders. I muyst say though, even though I only do a few a year, I'm damn good!! Forrest Lamprey Indianapolis Re: Rod finish ?'s

2- yes if you do a light scuff. It is nice to put on successive coats on within a timeframe that is less than 24 hours with no scuffing.

looks like question 1 and 2 were the same answer. aslong as you put epoxy on epoxy or epoxy on urathanes (ie permagloss) you are fine, but if you try to put urethane on epoxy, it will blister and weaken. Strong wraps, calm seas Derek Re: Rod finish ?'s
