Am Tac HLG Halide Guides, Braid Friendly?
Anyone have experience with these guides and braided line? I try to stay with Fuji, but these came with a kit and would like to use them if they will work with braid, if not, I'll order some Fuji Alconite guides.
Thanks,
Jeff

I don't think there's a modern ceramic type guide that is not "braid friendly".

Thanks Ken.
I just googled "Halide rings" and found and old post here from early 2010 that said the user had no problem with them.
Thanks again,
Jeff

Jeff,
Any of the American Tackle Halide guides will work just fine with braided line. I have built many rods using American Tackle guides with Halide rings. I've used everything from the single foot HLGSF's on light spinning rods to heavy bottom rods with the HDHG Turbo guides and have never had any problems with the rings holding up to braid. A good test was a couple of surf rods I built a couple of years ago for a guy that averages about two trips a week to the beach. I put the HLG's that you asked about on those rods and even with the wear of the sand and salt the rings show no signs of grooving. I would have to say you have nothing to worry about with the guides that you have there. Alconite will cost you more but it will not do more.
