Walleye Spiral Trolling Rods

When building a spiral wrapped trolling rod, do you guys put the bumper guide on different sides of the blank depending on the side of the boat the rod will be on? Ive always just placed the bumper on the same side as the reel handle. I was just thinking it may be a better option to put the bumper guide on the side of the blank that will be facing the rear of the boat.

I'm not sure if it will make a big difference in the performance, but I thought I'd ask what others have found works the best.

Mitch,
0 reason to change the direction of spiral - based on side of rod being used.

Rather, most folks put the spiral guides on the same side as the handle of the reel. That way, if the rod is laid down, the reel and handle tend to keep the rod from rotating over on the guide side of the rods.

Other than that, there is no reason to prefer one side of the rod for a spiral or the other.

Take care
Roger
