What has anyone found to be the best way to fill the pits in cork. I've tried a number of things, but haven't been real happy with any.
Tried mixing cork powder with white glue, but never seems to sand off well. I also tried a few filler putties but never can seem to match the color of the cork. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Forrest Lamprey Indianapolis Re: Filling cork

Forrest,
The item that is commonly being used with great success is "Light Oak Elmers wood filler". It is easy to use, sands well and holds up very well. It is also a nice match for typical cork. It is also inexpensive and widly available at most lumber yeards, and big box stores. Take care Roger Re: Filling cork

Try Rod Dancers pit paste, availableat Jann`s NetCraft and other fine places. I have used it only a few times with very positive results.

Go with the Pit Paste, best so far and I have tried a bunch of fillers. Best color match, filled the voids easily and sanded well. Rod Dancer product, couple of the sponsors carry it. Re: Filling cork

Preferred cork filler for custom builders who build fishing rods for fishermen.
1. No change in color 2. Sand cork surface only - less chance of damage 3. No additional costs or shipping charges 4. Minimum application time 5. No maintenance for later applications 6. Available to all 7. No change to "feel" of natural cork 8 Lastly does not add additional weight and insures "sensitivity" of natural cork. Save the $3 and spend it with a vendor on this forum.
