Cork grading

Does amyone really have a good understanding of cork grading? I see Flor, extra select, select than AAA, AA, A+ and than B?
I would like to buy cork that looks really nice, few voids if any etc., and makes a nice handle? I purchased some that say AAA which
I felt were way overrated, and then purchased some that were "grade 5" and were nice, but can't find them anymore.
Help
Thanks

Those grades mean nothing. There is no clarity scale behind any of them. Flor, 5, AAA, etc, can be perfect, or it can be full of pits and holes, and both will be correct.

You might try this instead:

Until the vendors adopt the same grading scale, anyone can call their cork whatever they want so basically, you takes your chances.

Forrest,
The best thing to do, is to call your supplier and have them send a "typical" ring from each of their graded stock, so that you get a better feel for how their cork is graded.

Bingham Enterprises use the CG1, CG2 and CG3 scale for grading our cork. We currently have both CG2 and CG3 in stock. These can be found on my website under the cork rings listings.
Any questions please drop me an e-mail or call.

Happy Holidays.
