What would be the best way to take off the EVA and the butt cap and winding checks from a rod? I want to repalce them with Hyaplon grips.

I can think of two good ways. You can turn the grips off if you have a lathe. Or if you have the issue of Rodmaker that had the grip removal method where you basically shave the grip off in lengthwise strips by using heavy kevlar fishing line. I can't remember who wrote that but I've tried it and it works great! Takes only a minute to shave an EVA grip right down to the blank. .

Lorenzo,
I just use a razor sharp fillet knife and fillet the grip right off of the rod.
It only takes a couple of minutes.

If you did a good job gluing them on the begin with, it may be difficult to save them. Rubber butt caps can often be removed by prying off with a shallow blade screwdriver, working it down and around the bond. Use a piece of thread as if were a "cheese cutter" slice the winding check off the front of the foregrip. If the bore is large enough, you can slip it off over the guides. Then shave and pick the bounded EVA off of it and reuse as desired.
