I'm searching for online data regarding weights of various sizes and styles of guides for fly rods. Seems to me I have seen it in the past but cannot find it now. Weights of snake guides, single foot wire guides, and single foot ceramic guides are all of interest to me. Any help you might provide will be appreciated. And if you have information on weight differences between wrapped and finished guides (double foot versus single foot) that will be helpful as well.
Thanks, Harry Boyd Harry Boyd Re: Guide weight data

Hi Harry,
Weighed some guides a couple of weeks ago. Fugi TLSG-4J weighed 0.0502 grams. They're size 4 single foot, titanium frame and SiC ring. DBlue Ti-SiC-DBSG-B1 weighed 0.190 grams. They're size 6 single foot, titanium frame and SiC ring. DBlue SS-SiC-DBSG-B1 weighed 0.311 grams. They're size 6 single foot, stainless frame with SiC ring. DBlue Ti-SiC-LNTSG weighed 0.263 grams. They're size 6 double foot, titanium frame with SiC ring. DBlue SS-SiC-LNTSG weighed 0.387 grams. They're size 6 double foot, stainless frame with SiC ring. Not much but you can see the difference between size 4 and size 6, also the difference between stainless and titanium frames. Hope that's some help. Hi Eugene,
No apology required. From the stuff I did there's only a little relevant to this post. Looks like you've been busy on the scales as well. ESFNEM Col Port Kembla, NSW Australia Re: Guide weight data

Thanks for posting that Eugene - I had been thinking just recently I would like to find some data like that as a means of comparison.

Very valuable information above.
Would any of those with scales and the required patience happen to have the weights of the thread and finish that was required to attach those guides to fishing rod? How does the weight of the encapsulation compare to the weight of the guide? Re: Guide weight data

Bill,
Weight of thread and finish was based on work done by Emory Harry and published in a previous Rodbuilder. I deemed his approach sound and committed them to my spreadsheet. Weight increases with guide size due to foot length and dia of blank at point of wrap. In some instances weight of thread and finish are higher than the actual guide weight. Specifically the light wire double foot guides, especially the titanium. Eugene Moore Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
