Hi guys!
I am building a 6.6" ft spinning rod from batson XP 841 '( ML FAST 4-10 LB line rating and 1/8-3/8 oz rated) reel is a Shimano rarenium 2500 (only 200 grams) and spool's diameter of 46 mm I will jigging 3/16-1/4 oz lures looking for yellow perch with 2 lb braid and 4 lb fluorocarb on as final (toni pena knot) I have decided to use TATSG guides. (20-12-8) and 4 of TLSG I am thinking to use a 20 as stripper after a 12 then a 8 finally 4 to TT. I would use 7 + 1 instead of 8 + 1 What do you think? from reel to stripper 50 cm from 20 to 12 28 cm from 12 to 8 22 cm from 8 to 4 19 cm after a number 4 guide every 10 cm until TT Handle will be 34 cm 4 guides are to small for knot between braid and FC??? What do you think? could it works ? Thanks for your time. Michele Re: Batson XP 841 Spinning

You can certainly do it, but cutting 6 inches off the Batson blank wouldn't be my first choice with so many fantastic 6 1/2 ft blanks out there already. You'll end up with a slower and less powerful blank than what you started with.
If your truly just jigging you can go with much smaller guides, especially with the braid your using. Haven't used a Pena knot before, but the double uni knot I use would easily pass through that guide set and even smaller guides. Re: Batson XP 841 Spinning

(16-12-8-4 to the TT) What about guides's size and guides's placement? what do u think? Re: Batson XP 841 Spinning

Michele,
It would work just fine. But if you do, be sure to do all of the blank chopping from the butt end and don't touch the tip. It will work out great, just as you have set it up. Roger Re: Batson XP 841 Spinning

I have not used the new fuji sk2 spinning seat but mocked up a minima spin seat which is very similar and i hated it. I prefer either the amtak aero seat or lately ive been making the SBSS seat for all my spinning rods. Re: Batson XP 841 Spinning

The SK2 is more confortable than the Minima for me.
No weight saving (it wheight more than an IPS16 for exemple). Re: Batson XP 841 Spinning

I haven't used the fuji sk2, I have used several pacbay minima seats and like them. I have also cut the center section out of a cheap reel seat (I guess I was just curious), built a rod with it and it is really nice. Rufus Port Saint Lucie, FL Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
