G. Loomis is still going strong and doing business as usual. They no longer sell blanks to the custom builder.
North Fork Composites makes their own line of rod blanks, which are available to the custom builder. Their link is to the left and you can easily contact them and ask about any new models you may have heard of. ............... Re: New Loomis blanks ??

Gary is designing North Fork blanks, not G. Loomis blanks.

Put a Batson blank on the build and he will likely be very happy with the rod.

It would be interesting to know where the friend is getting the blank since Loomis no longer sells blanks to the custom builder.

Not only has G Loomis not offered blanks since 9/1/2009, but when they did offer them the price of a surf blank was substantial. Not only is the pedigree questionable, the warranty is most definitely an interesting subject. When a G Loomis blank breaks, there are no replacements - period. Re: New Loomis blanks ??

Depending on the circumstances, it is possible to get a new FACTORY rod in exchange for a broken custom blank. They do usually assess a fee - currently $100 when treated as a solution under the Expeditor program. I can assure you that he will not be getting a replacement blank, no matter what. An expensive custom Loomis rod, right.
A older friend of our family bought a $150, 7 1/2 ft salmon rod that was reportedly built on a Loomis blank at a local shop, Dad asked if I could repair it. First look I could see something was up, a little investigation showed it was really two unknown trash rod blanks stuck inside each other. Long story - short he received a custom rod, with his name on it, built on a Batson SW 967, a great "Do It All" blank for salmon and legal size sturgeon in the Columbia River.
