Wrapping Thread Question

Is there any rule of thumb or formula to determine how much thread you need to wrap a given rod? (I don't wrap enough rods to get a real feel for how much I need.) I either seem to end up with 2-3 times what I need or just short of what I need and have to order more. Any ideas appreciated. Re: Wrapping Thread Question

Sorry don't know of any formula. With blank diameters and tapers, number of guides, length of wraps, single foot vs double foot, under wrap..... the variations are numerous. Freddwhy (Rapt-Ryte) Re: Wrapping Thread Question

Robert,
Buy a couple of 5000 yard spools of the colors you normally use and you won't have to buy thread again. Roger Re: Wrapping Thread Question

Robert
It all depends on blank diameter, single foot or double foot guides, length of butt wraps, etc. I have found out that you might as well buy 1oz. (900yd.) spools of thread. For the cost of 3 100yd. spools you get 900yds. I can get 10 or 12 or more light action freshwater rods done with a 900yd. spool with some left over Rog Re: Wrapping Thread Question

With a 100yds spool I made four rods at least. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
