Mike I dream about that -
The original lures are now on five week back order! You can sell T Rods faster than you can wrap them. This is going to get GOOOOD! I can see a basser rigging the A Thang six $25.00 Lucky Crafts - throwing it in a tree back in the swamp and loosing the whole thing. Lures will now be more expensive than the rod or the reel! Maybe some smart lure company will include and all inclusive lure warranty against loss of lure - then us poor rod billers will be out of the line of fire.. Edited 1 time(s). I have tried throwing the A-rig with billed baits
And to be quite honest I am not man enough to do it. The amount of drag was unbelievable took about 8 casts for them babies to come back off . Re: Rodbuilders Bring Your A Game!

Two pound and a half bass on that rig with 3" swimbaits is like pulling up a car tire off the bottom. Cant imagine what two 4lb bass would feel like! I can see a Seeker doing that. Way to get on it Bill. Re: Rodbuilders Bring Your A Game!

Steve good to see you back active on the forum. I honestly think this alphabet stuff , i.e., A Rig, T Rod will activate one more A for attitude among rod builders and fishermen. You were dead right when you said this presented opportunities for the custom builder who wanted to expand his business with bass fishermen. There will be no warranty breakage issue for custom builders to deal with. Hopefully impact on the bass market will be as successful as the micro rods proved to be. Thinking back I beleive around Thanksgiving was the time of the year that your micro world was turned on by this forum..
No one will have a clue what all this is about until they try to "throw" a six ounce cluster. I pity the blank manufacturers of fast action graphite flip sticks who will have to deal with all the A Rig breakage in the months to come. The proper technique lets the lure weight do the loading of a properly designed blank to propel the lure long distances with accuracy. This actually happened today - an Elite - frog specialist - you probably know who I am talking about - showed me his next secret weapon - six frogs in a fan spread. Mike did you see the video trailer where the guy landed three bass on one rig - they all looked to be over three pounds. Re: Rodbuilders Bring Your A Game!

The "A- Rig" is definitely a killer. Guys on KY Lake and Barkley Lake are pulling 5 Cranks at a time. They are having trouble finding a rod that will handle the A- Rig. I believe Swampland and I can take care of that little problem. Thanks Bill, I will be in touch.
If you are going to try it, stay above the stump beds ! These guys are using 85 lb Braid and hoping they can straighten out the hooks on their $8.00 + Crank Baits before losing their $25.00 A-Rig. Just tie one on and hang on ! J.B.Hunt Bowling Green, KY Re: Rodbuilders Bring Your A Game!

You guys are speaking Greek to me... and to think I took Greek in grad school.
So what in the world is A rig or T rod? Your site is down. Mo Re: Rodbuilders Bring Your A Game!

Mo,
[www.google.com] The Alabama rig is the latest craze to hit the bass tourney scene. Big money tournaments have been won chunking arrays of lures attached to a wire rig to set the spacing. I'm guessing it is most effective on fish keying on schools of baitfish either in open water or relating to structure. Joe Re: Rodbuilders Bring Your A Game!

“The proper technique lets the lure weight do the loading of a properly designed blank to propel the lure long distances with accuracy.â€
Bill, could not have said that any better! Which is why the specific Batson model was suggested Letting the blank do the work takes a load off the arms. I’ve not used the seekers so I cannot honestly speak for or against them Mo; Go down 2 posts and watch the videos Jo; Where this thing shines is on suspended fish. Don’t know why, but they will absolutely clobber it wile passing up on other baits Re: Rodbuilders Bring Your A Game!

Ah... Got it. Very impressive.
So it is basically a type of umbrella rig right? But obviously with a particular design. Interesting because I've thought about this type of rig for freshwater except it is very much illegal here where I am. Again, impressive and good job!! Mo Re: Rodbuilders Bring Your A Game!

Steve,
Thanks for the insight. Mo, Word on the street the thing is legal in IN, a two hook per line state. Enforcement is treating it like a crankbait or jerkbait. [www.bigindianabass.com] Time will tell how it shakes out in other states. I still haven't heard one way or another about here in Ohio. Joe Re: Rodbuilders Bring Your A Game!

Mo I would be"tickled pink" to see your build interpretetaion of a rod to effectively throw a six ounce A rig using your known "fetish" of zero weight or blank and components If you could build one of your "feather lights" rods for a six ounce A rig you would become wealthy overnight and your back orders would be at least a year. Bill;
Did he also send you a video of an oriental angler fishing it in a stream? If not let me know and I will forward it to you. Not not sure I want to go that far. can you imagine trying to get 3 five pound bass in the boat with about 10 pounds of grass hanging off each Mo; you will have to use .000002 wire with 1/128 oz heads and 1/4 inch worms Re: Rodbuilders Bring Your A Game!

The Alabama rig has been effective because it is targeting suspended feeding schools that usually is the fall fishing pattern at most any lake with a good bait fish population. Im sure there will be anglers throwing them in the absolute wrong situations and will store them away in their tackle box cause there not catching fish like the pros. But it will make them look for a rod that will be able to throw the thing, which is a good thing for builders if they act quickly. The factories will have a rod soon for the technique and sell them for 100 bucks! I want to see the angler that can skip a 6 frog rig under overhanging brush and docks! Open water maybe, I also believe this will be short lived in tournament fishing, but the best sales technique would be to have the lure banned from tournament fishing! Then everyone would have at least one! Re: Rodbuilders Bring Your A Game!

Mike it is nice to see fisherman also build rods - use them - and think -
Your last sentence is Oh So True! The A Rig is a "structure fisherman's dream tool The A Rig triggers a voracious feeding strike - watch a saltwater fish attack a bait ball on the film clips . Read the book written by Buck Perry - all the top Elites know the book cover to cover! If you beat banks and do not catch things many will say the fish are not biting. The guys that know the real answer is "they ain't there" - go where the fish are! Many win tournaments catching fish that reside in their "sanctuary".. Tournament winning bass that are caught under docks and bank overhangs are there for a small percentage of time. Many blanks are specialized for those who pound banks - the A Rigs target "sanctuaries and major breaks" . The larger fish reside in their sanctuary the majority of time - The A Rig Triggers the Sanctuary Bite in astounding numbers.. The race is now on to get to market with the proper task specific blank. We are please with what we have been able to bring to market with the help of many! We think you need to add one to your collection of one to cover all lure weight ranges for those who do not want to be found short of rods.. It takes two to Tango with the A Rigs! On for light rigs and one for the heavy Boyz! Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 11/22/2011 08:31PM by Bill Stevens. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
