I am trying to pick out a blank but I don't know a lot about some of these company's that don't make "off the shelf "rods.
First off I will be using it for LMB. I have several high end rods but this is my first custom built. I am looking for a 7'M F-EF rod that I'll use for soft plastics, Flukes, Senco , Drop shotShakyey head & cranks. I am looking at a MHX Hi Mod blank but I am open to ideas on other high end blanks. How does this series stack up to the Loomis IMX or GLX those are some other blanks I have in mind. I am going to use Minima seat with (10+tip?) Fuji micros and I have already turned a split grip Eucalyptus Burl wooden handle/ butt for it. Will the use of wood have any drawbacks except being a little heavier? Re: Advise on a blank

The Hi Mod SJ843 or MB 843 might be the closest you can find to cover all those techniques.
This series of blanks have proved to me to be a much better blank (weight and price point are 2 areas that come to mind) than the IMX or GLX blanks. Add to that the transferable warranty and I believe you'll be very happy. Re: Advise on a blank

Loomis no longers offers blanks for sale. Take a look at the North Fork Composite blanks . These were created and designed by "the man" himself Gary Loomis.

Curtis your post is quite specific pertaining to what you are seeking. The extra fast designation is used by many who require the best fishing rod for drop shot and shaky head. There are a couple of things you did not nail down that have a lot to do with the selection.
The lure weight, size of fish and nature of cover will dictate the back end power needed. Your desire to use the rod for cranking presents a unique opportunity. Many will take your request for a "high end blank" to narrow the choice to high modulus graphite. You will find that this request to include crankabaits will prove to be counterproductive. Swampland has several blanks in stock that build exceptional drop shot/shaky head rods used by touring professionals.
