I have used 1/8'' cork tape for butt grip and after installing cant seem to join it where you cant see a line where it butts together. I got a good tight joint spiraling down the blank and rolled it with a wooden board on a flat table but still cant get a one piece look with it. I used 1/16'' on the fore grip and it looks real good, can anyone give advice on installing this differently or a way to correct this. The blank is a saltwater 8' with a butt diam. of .615. Any help will be appriciated. Re: Installing cork tape

You're going to have a seam no matter what you do. Just make sure the edges butt up perfectly with each other and then go out and use it a bit. After a few trips, the seams tend to disappear as the cork weathers just a bit. Re: Installing cork tape

The procedure for installing both thicknesses (1/8 and 1/16) should be them same. As with anything in rod building, the more you do it the better you get at it. Since 1/16 tape is much easier to work with, I usually use the 1/16 100% cork tape as a base and the regular 1/16 cork tape on the top. -Greg [www.ReelsAndEels.com] Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
