Where did I get this transition ring?

About 7 1/2 years ago I built a fly rod using a Pac Bay A7C-T real seat with a small Sage fighting butt. Between the end of the seat and the fighting butt is a transition ring. I cannot find this transition ring anywhere, I email Pac Bay with this same picture below and the gal there had no clue where it came from. Does anyone know where these are available? Thanks.

No Willie, it's not a winding check - it's a TRANSITION ring - at least that's how I would define it. I'm pretty certain it had a short extension (which now is hidden in the picture) that sleeved up into the bottom of the reel seat. Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 10/05/2011 02:46PM by Tim Collins. Maybe it's a Struble - this looks pretty close but the Pac Bay's measurements were dead on. I'm sure it's probably one company making everyone's seats, thanks.

Struble's seats are made in the USA (or at least have been as long as I'm aware). Pacific Bay and many others have their's made overseas, although they may certainly be very similar.

It is a trim ring that came with the reel seat from Pac Bay. I do not think the trim rings were sold by themselves, only with the reel seat. It did have a lip that slipped inside the reel seat so it was aligned with the reel seat and made a nice finished look.
If you can find a winding check large enough and the right contour it could be used but it would not have the lip that slipped inside the reel seat tube. John Anderson Re: Where did I get this transition ring?

Tim ....
I just re-read (more carefully) your original post. I think you're right that the fighting butt is from Struble. Like Tom posted the inside diameters of the PacBay and the Struble seat may well be different due to inch/metric variances in measurement. Looks like the original PacBay trim is not offered any longer Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 10/06/2011 11:48AM by Ken Preston. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
