I'm thinking about building some 7' spin & cast rods. I'd like to do 2 pc. rods bcs a 1 pc. won't fit as easily in the back of my truck or inside our Commander. Should be much easier to transport.
I feel that w/ today's technology in blank manufacturing, I shouldn't be sacrificing a great deal of sensitivity or performance. A bit of added weight I expect. Can anyone give me some real life testimonies of 2 pc. rods? Thanks, Todd Re: 2 pc. blanks

Multi-piece blanks work just fine. If they didn't, we would have a BUNCH of angry fly anglers. My issue is little to no availability in high modulus designs AND a lack of heavy inshore offerings. There are many advantages to multi-piece, only a few minor disadvantages ... the largest of the disadvantages being a higher price. Re: 2 pc. blanks

Most of my rods are 2pc. All of my fly rods are multi-piece. I have a 7' bass rod that is a one piece and a Gator glass one piece I use for catfish. I have a 6'6" ISP783f, RX7 Rainshadow that I use for crappie, panfish, bass. It's a 2 pc. and I love it. They are easier for me to build due to lack of room. I haven't had any problems with any of my 2 pc. rods and those are the ones I use the most. I fish 2 to 3 times per week. I don't think you will sacrifice any significant weight. My RX7 weighs 3.6 oz minus a reel. If you get good blanks I think you will be pleasantly surprised. Have fun and be sure to post pics when you get one done. Some beliefs just refuse to die. Sort of like spine. I believe that most of those that believe multi piece rods are inferior, probably haven't fished a modern multi piece rod.
Personally, I don't feel that I give up anything with a multi piece rod Mike (Southgate, MI) If I don't want to, I don't have to and nobody can make me (except my wife) cuz I'm RETIRED!! Re: 2 pc. blanks

All of the spinning rods I build are on 2 or 3 piece blanks and I have had no issues with them at all. I build mostly fly rods with most being 4 piece. I would like to see some blind tests with multi piece spinning rods vs single piece rods. I bet there would be some surprising results for those who swear by single piece rods. Re: 2 pc. blanks
