I am looking for a size 5mm micro, or is that considered a micro? I have American Tackle DBRLMG 3's, and 4's and is looking for size 5 micro. but all I see in the micros is the ring lock fly guides in size 5mm, I was wondering,I am buiding a couple of Med-Hvy power fast acton bass rods 7'3", would those fly guides hold up for my butt guide? Curious. Re: is size 5mm considered....?

By longstanding international agreement 5mm is a fixed distance, whatever you call it after that. Sly marketing and advertising agents have decided to create a profitable new entity, the "5mm micro." Accept no substitutes. Re: is size 5mm considered....?

The term micro is a great buzz word and marketing tool, but in the end the guides aren't really that much different than their larger cousins. There are a few micros that bring some new design/construction concepts to the table, AmTak included, but a guide is still a guide. The 5mm fly guide will hold up just fine for a bass rod. After all, a micro is pretty much a small fly guide.

I used 5mm on a large catfish rod and they hold up just fine. David Dosser Coshocton, OH Re: is size 5mm considered....?

Based on the first published articles in RodMaker Magazine concerning Micro guides.
The term applies to 4mm and smaller and had nothing to do with marketing, Re: is size 5mm considered....?

Steve,
I should have been a bit more careful in my answer. The point I wanted to get home was that if a micro will work for a butt guide, so will a bit larger fly guide. Joe Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
