Does it lessen the value of a rod, if you do not put the rod blank manufacture decal on the rod.? Thanks in advance Re: Rod blank manufacture decal question!

Lessen the value to whom? Some customers do not want the factory label on the rod, others do. I'd ask.
Either way, keep that label for future warranty claim use. Most manufacturers require that any blank returned have the decal either on the rod or attached to it when requesting warranty service. .......... Re: Rod blank manufacture decal question!

I never understood why builders would put the the blank manufacturer decal on a rod they built. When I build a rod - it's mine! I put my name on it... and perhaps the customer's name on request, but my name/.com is always on the rod, never the parts manufacturer. Re: Rod blank manufacture decal question!

Personally I can't see why using the manufacturers decal would lessen the value of a rod. These decals list the blank model and specifics of the blank . I will not use them if they deter from the
colors that I use on wraps. Such as a silver decal where I am using gold thread. But I do include the decal when I ship out a rod. Dave Norton Re: Rod blank manufacture decal question!

On higher end blanks, Sage, Winston, etc. I usually include all or part of the manufacturers decal unless the customer does not want in on. I find most people like to show off something that has a recognizable "name" attached to it. If it is a lower priced blank, or one from a blank manufacturer most people wouldn't recognize, I leave it off. I have a special symbol I put on all of my rods, but none of them have my name on them. Also not all rod manufactures send rod spec decals with their blanks. Re: Rod blank manufacture decal question!

I don't use the manufacturers name unless requested. They didn't make the rod, I did.Bill, if a customer comes back and wants another one, just look at your build records!! Mike (Southgate, MI) If I don't want to, I don't have to and nobody can make me (except my wife) cuz I'm RETIRED!! Re: Rod blank manufacture decal question!

Personal preference, but I think people like to know the details of a product as special as a custom designed and built rod. So I always include the info if not the original decal. Since I make my own custom decals I can include the name of the person for whom it was built, my name, the date of build, and the original blank manufacturer info. I cannot understand not including the length, power, action, line weight, lure weight info in some way. Otherwise, after a few years, or a few more rods, it becomes a mystery rod.
