looking for suggestions on some 2 piece trolling blanks Salmon about 8 lbs and lighter fish using plainer boards 8 Lb line mono and braids.

Hi Bill,
I built three trolling rods from the Batson SW967F blank for these rods. I have trolled for salmon and used them for bottom fishing as well. They are rated for 15-25 pound line. I really like them. Mike Blomme Re: trolling blank

Bill, have a look at the Batson RDR's. For smaller salmon like you describe (cohos?), the RDR86M would be a nice blank. The MHX might be on the heavy side, more geared towards larger kings. The 8'6" MHX would probably work, but be slightly heavy for your fish, but at the same time would also be a very versatile rod. It could be used for leadcore, copper, and even a high diver rod in a pinch. I would stick with glass rods as you probably know, salmon guys are brutal on rods.
