EVA vs Hypolon?

I have just got done looking at teh new rods I have built after a fishing trip, and the EVA that I used for the grips are showing wear and tear, I was wondering if Hypolon would be more wear and tear resistence then EVA, and how much more weight would the Hypolon give the rod then EVA.

Hypalon is tougher than EVA. Both come in many grades. In general, for rod grips, hypalon is more rubber like in feel and more spongy (soft) feeling. I like a firm grip so I don't care for it. On the other hand, it is easier to hold on to when you have a lot of fish slim on your hands!

A general density for hypalon is 0.0459 pounds per cubic inch. For EVA it is 0.0335 pounds per cubic inch. Help this helps. Look at it as a percentage difference.

Hypalon is WAY heavier than EVA. But I love the "gripp e ness" of hypalon, just hate the weight.

another advantage to hypalon is that you can put it on the rail and not worry about it getting dented. but its really heavy.
