What are your thoughts on the new airrus micro system they are introducing at ICAST (the one on the nanofusion rods)? You can see videos of it on tackle warehouse's icast coverage. Its seems like it the guides might work really well for the choker guides micro spinning rods. Re: airrus micro system??

I question the whole system personally -
- consider the angle of line change from the spool to the stationary line guide - on today's baitcasters the guide disengages from the pawl gear regardless of position. It is possible to have line going off the far right of the spool and traveling out the left... that's an angle change of 60 degrees. The change angle coming from the reel to a size 4 stripper guide at 25" is less than 5 degrees. This is using a standard single foot guide. - these tall guides on a casting rig are going to encourage rod locker damage, wind knots, and increased damage from impacts, etc. That equals a higher rates of return = increased warranty $ spent - the amount of friction from the line during flight is very very small. The loss due to a change of angle at the stripper guide is going to be less ----------------- AD Re: airrus micro system??

When I saw the video that was the first thing I thought of: that it looks like a broken guide waiting to happen. I do think it might work on a spinning rod though. David Dosser Coshocton, OH Re: airrus micro system??

That was my first thoughts to, I can see the first 2-3 guides raised a little using a double foot guide but a single foot that high is going to be bent. Recoils would be the answer to that ?????? It's not an issue at all. If you take a look at a fully spooled low profile baitcast reel, you may see the angle of the line from the top of a full spool to the pawl guide can be greater than the angle from the pawl guide to the first guide. That spool to pawl guide angle is reduced as line comes off the spool. You see greater angles on most spiral set ups, and we all know they work just fine. Oh, and some folks here think wind knots don't exist. ;) I'm just sayin... Chuck _________________________________________ "Angling is extremely time consuming. To me it look like a small yet tall spinning guide. I wouldn't even consider putting that on a casting rod. David Dosser Coshocton, OH Re: airrus micro system??

If you looked in the right places at the show these have been around for 2 years……
I agree with the rest, these are a solution for a problem that doesn’t exist, and will introduce their own problems with storage and transportation Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
