Rich Forhan - Tip Up or Down - 20 techniques

First, thanks, Tom; I got my first Rodmaker magazine this past weekend. I have a years subscription, and the 2-9 cd on the way. I've been building rods less than a years, just turned 31 so my wife and baby got me the 2-9 cd and the Guide cd. Looking forward to reading through all the past articles.

Second, in the recent Rodmaker Magazine, Mr. Forhan makes a mention in his article, "Legacy - The Split Grip," that he builds rods for at least 20 different bass techniques, most with tip down use.

What are the 20 techniques?

I'm assuming some would be

-Deep cranker...tip down
-Pitching....tip up....spiral
-Drop Shot....tip up....
???

If possible, I'd like to put a master list together.

Thanks for the help.

This may be too general.

What Alex probably won't tell you is this. At the 2009 ICRBE, many of us sat in Rich Forhan's seminar on technique specific building techniques. At the end of the seminar, Rich wanted to pass on his "build sheets" to someone that would make use of the info. Rich had anyone that was interested put their name in a hat, and someone drew Alex's name out of the hat. I have to admit I was a bit green with envy, and I am not sure I would have reacted with the same unselfish class that Alex displayed. Seconds after winning the prize, Alex announced to the group that he would share it with all those that put their name in the hat! Good form!

Chuck

Wow...this is absolutely invaluable information, and to see someone so unselfish as to share it like this is beyond incredible.

Awesome. It's nice to be involved in a craft where information is so freely shared. What Mills said above really demonstrates the type of people invovled in this craft.

Thanks for the help.

Hopefully everyone got the copy who wanted it.

Just remember... all tip down rods become tip up rods at some point.
