First, thanks, Tom; I got my first Rodmaker magazine this past weekend. I have a years subscription, and the 2-9 cd on the way. I've been building rods less than a years, just turned 31 so my wife and baby got me the 2-9 cd and the Guide cd. Looking forward to reading through all the past articles.
Second, in the recent Rodmaker Magazine, Mr. Forhan makes a mention in his article, "Legacy - The Split Grip," that he builds rods for at least 20 different bass techniques, most with tip down use. What are the 20 techniques? I'm assuming some would be -Deep cranker...tip down -Pitching....tip up....spiral -Drop Shot....tip up.... ??? If possible, I'd like to put a master list together. Thanks for the help. jwr This may be too general. Re: Rich Forhan - Tip Up or Down - 20 techniques

Jeremy - Send me an email and I'll gladly share an electronic version of Rich's original blue print sheet with you free of charge/ You'll find asome of what you want. It's old and some things have changed since Rich wrote it.
Also, here is a list of the techniques - but keep in mind some techniques have evolved since Rich actively built and also some blanks/reels have changed to where some of the finesse can also be handled by baitcasters: Baitcasting: Big Swimbait Medium Swimbait Frog Swim Jig Flippin/Pitchin Big Cranks Small Cranks Big Senko Carolina Rig Carolina Rig Light Jig Other Tight Line Moving (Spinnerbait, trap, topwaters, etc) Spoon/Strokin Jig Spooks Rip Baits (stickbaits) Finesse Bass Rods - 99% spinning rods Float n Fly Fluke/Floating Worm Drop Shot Senko Tubes/Grubs Darthead/Shakey head Brass and Glass Split Shot Flick Shake Small Rip/Crank Spook Skipping Vertical Jigging PopR ----------------- AD Re: Rich Forhan - Tip Up or Down - 20 techniques

What Alex probably won't tell you is this. At the 2009 ICRBE, many of us sat in Rich Forhan's seminar on technique specific building techniques. At the end of the seminar, Rich wanted to pass on his "build sheets" to someone that would make use of the info. Rich had anyone that was interested put their name in a hat, and someone drew Alex's name out of the hat. I have to admit I was a bit green with envy, and I am not sure I would have reacted with the same unselfish class that Alex displayed. Seconds after winning the prize, Alex announced to the group that he would share it with all those that put their name in the hat! Good form!

Wow...this is absolutely invaluable information, and to see someone so unselfish as to share it like this is beyond incredible. Re: Rich Forhan - Tip Up or Down - 20 techniques

Awesome. It's nice to be involved in a craft where information is so freely shared. What Mills said above really demonstrates the type of people invovled in this craft.
Thanks for the help. Jeremy W. Reed Re: Rich Forhan - Tip Up or Down - 20 techniques

Hopefully everyone got the copy who wanted it.
Just remember... all tip down rods become tip up rods at some point. ----------------- AD Re: Rich Forhan - Tip Up or Down - 20 techniques
