Anyone interested in conducting tests to see how clear epoxy will stay after being exposed to sunlight, now is a great time. Summer the UV rays are stronger, so you should see results in a week or 2. I'm challenging all of you to do this, it'll really open your eyes if you have a finish that turns, or if you have a new finish which is what I'm going to be testing.
How to test???? HEre you go. Mix up 1CC of A & B Pour onto a sheet of waxed paper Once the finish cures, peel it off the waxed paper. If doing testing wiht multiple finishes, use a black sharpie to label it Find a spot in your yard where the sun shines all day with no shadows or shade. What I often do is cover half of each piece of cured epoxy with aliminum foil, so that I cna see how much the finish turned from. The aluminum foil prevents sunlight from hitting the epoxy (obviously). Re: Good time for epoxy vs. sunlight testing

I'm running tests on some one-part UV cure finishes right now. I want to test them for clarity and brittleness so the Waxed paper should work best. I'm also trying this on Saran (plastic) wrap to see if I can also determine adhesion Re: Good time for epoxy vs. sunlight testing

.IT's really suprising to see how fast epoxy turns colors, wa a real eye opener. I saw a couple of rods I did in 2004 using GLass Coat - I did aFLuke decal on the top and bottom of the rod, the top the Fluke was brown the bottom was white, kind of to resemble a Fluke. Sad to say both Fluke were the same color from the epoxy turning brown, teh wraps that was Royal BLue & Silver looks NAvy and gold. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
