MHX blanks - are they matte or gloss?

Hi all,

I would just like to know if the mudhole MHX blanks are a matte or gloss finish - it is bit hard to tell from the photos on their website. It only mentions that the colour is slate grey.

Thanks

Matte. If you want more shine: as last step in build finish off with a carnuba car wax or similar polish.

The finish is pretty well "naked graphite" or a matte finish. Except the light saltwater line, those have a gloss finish.

Standard MHX blanks are a matte slate grey finish, with the exception of the Lt Saltwater series and they have a clear gloss finish over the grey. Our Hi-Mod MHX blanks have a "naked" graphite finish.

They have at least 3 different finishes. The standard MHX blanks have a matte clear coat. The new high modulus blanks have a bare graphite finish. The light saltwater versions have a gloss clear coat.

Might be the wrong place to ask but I have heard of "buffing" with kraft paper to polish or create a luster. Can anyone comment or what that ends up looking like and how hard or effective it is to carry out?

The light saltwater's have a gloss to them, except the L902 which is a matte/clear.

Russ,
on a polished surface you can take a courser grade of paper (like one that comes off of an inexpensive note pad) and cut into strips and then buff on your power wrapper.

I like the naked graphite look. I have Lami XMGs and NFC (and blanks I have stripped). I put a coat of Meguires carnuba wax on after building and they have a nice sheen. Not glossy, but not matte. The plus for me is that there is no finish to scratch.
