Snakeskin Trim Band

In late May I posted a question concerning removing a snakeskin inlay due to a poor fit. Matthew Jacobs gave me a couple tips and I was able to pull it off, refit it, and put it on. It turned out perfect!!!! Thanks Matthew. Now, another question - since snakeskins are a little thick how do you wrap a trim band on at the transition point of the blank and the skin?

I use a blade and "shave" the skin to create a taper ... then I wrap right up the skin just like a guide foot.

I too use a number 11 scalpel and very carefully feather the skin toward the blank. It allows a nice gradual, even fit at the overlap.

I start with a straight edge on the skin and just wrap up to the edge.
I saw a Pat Van Zant demo when I started doing them and that's how he was doing it so I followed suit.
