I have picked up a brush pen that uses indigo ink as its ink source. I want to use it as a labeling marker. How will epoxy react to ink? Does in need to be treated with CP for example to protect it from bleeding? Your thoughts?

I don't know if it will work with your pen, but I use Speedball acrylic ink almost exclusively. I have used it in gold, silver and black and it gives good coverage. It has worked very well and needs no special treatment when using either spar varnish or epoxy. The reason I like the acrylic ink is that it cleans up with water so any mistakes can be easily removed before it dries without using any chemicals.

2X Speedball acrylic with a calligraphy / dip pen.

Dr. Ph. Martin's Iridescent here. This will flow through a dip pen. I don't have to us cp with it. it cleans off the blank with alcohol. The effect of this ink in full sunlight is unbelivable. It glows. I have used their Gold, Silver, and White. I just got a bottle of their Black Sparkle. It looks a little on the grey side. I will let you know how it looks on the blank tomorrow.

Where did you find the Martin's Iridescent?

I originally found it at an art store close to me. Since then I have been buying it either from the makers of the product, or some of the on line art suppliers. Do a google search for Doc Martin's.

Ken: Did you find the Doc Martin's ink at Hobby Lobby? I know the local one didn't carry it. Basically I have found that there are only 2 places that stock this ink. Doc Martin's had some trouble with the first formula they produced. The ink didn't flow very well in a steel nib pen. The ink also had a tendancy to eat the plastic eye dropper that was in the bottle. They reformulated the ink, and now it will flow through the steel nib pens, and the Koh I Nor technical pens. The problem with the plastic stopper was also solved. I have been using this ink for a number of years. The only problem I have ever had with it was having to thin the older inks. I have a new bottle of "Black Sparkle". This stuff looks jet black in some light, and dark silver in others.
