I just started to epoxy my long 200 mm deco wrap, and sat there watching for a while, I put the coat on preety thin, blew out the bubbles , so I thought, and I looked again and there was a couple of spots where the bubbles where down , looked like right on top of the thread, I tried blowing them , then got the butane torch and that still didn't do it, so I thought before it gets to thick , I would try to wet the brush with alcohol.and brush out the bubbles which I tried on one of my micro guide wraps before and it worked, so I went ahead and got some alcohol and wet the brush and brushed the wrap and kept wetting the brush and brushed the wrap until bubbles were gone and it looked level and thin, now its turning on the wrapper, and it looks so far so good.Clear and thin, hopefully, now i can get my second coat on,without the alcohol and brush thing, I just wanted top let you guys read this to see if anyone of you had tried this before. Good fishin! Re: It worked for me!

Lorenzo,
Be really careful about using alcohol with rod finish. Alcohol is really not a thinner, nor is it really compatible with rod finish. If you actually wanted a solvent to use with rod finish that will actually mix with finish, then the use of something like Xylene is a better choice. Xylene fumes are quite toxic, so if you do use Xylene, be very cautious about its fumes and use only in a well vented area. The problem with alcohol and rod finish is that alcohol tends to make the finish soft. Take care Roger Re: It worked for me!

You won't have nearly the bubbles on the second coat as the thread is already sealed and all air that you are going to get out has been taken care of. If that happens on future rods, I wouldn't recommend the denatured alcohol. Simply stop rotating the rod and let the finish sag and it will move the bubble to a point where the air escapes or rises to the top. Re: It worked for me!

I know remember what I read before, But to tell you the truth I was in a hurry to get those bubbles out so I decided teh alcohol. since it was really thin, and I could just wipe it all off and clean the epoxy off, Thanks for the recommendation, and I will use that Xylene next and if I ever, Thanks.
