Madeira thread spools

What is the easiest method for changing the thread off of the Madeira spools onto more conventional spools? Have gone by the local sewing shops and they aren't as helpful as I would have hoped. I like the smaller thread spools on my PB wrapper.

Thanks,
Shea

If it is a power wrapper mount the spool on a dowel and allow the thread to come off the top of the Madeira spool (not rotating)

How would I then put tension on the thread? The wrapper is the Pac Bay power wrapper. The threaded rod isn't long enough to hold the Madeira spool. I like the idea, just wish i didn't have to modify my carriage to make it work. BTW, what ever happened to Gudebrod? I haven't needed thread in quite a while, and no longer see it at all.

Thanks,
Shea

Mount the new spool on a dowel. Chuck it on to your wrapper. Transfer it yourself.

As Mike said or use a hand drill. Put a bolt through the new spool, tighten nut on other end and away you go. Put the maderia spool over dowel or the like.
