I have read that Fuji or any other brand of guides with a Gold coating do not do well in a saltwater environment but what about the Gold reel seat locking nut. I am about to start building a rod that will look really nice with a Gold nut but I am not sure if it would be the best idea to do so. Any bad experiences with them. Pedro, I have a rod that I built sometime in the late 80's. I used Fuji gold guides and a reel seat with a gold locking nut. I have washed and waxed (Pledge) my rod after every trip to the salt. The gold is now starting to wear off of the nut. The guides still look fine. This was my favorite wade fishing rod...I don't wade anymore-too old. Now I have built some rods with the same guides and reel seat for others and have had to redo the rod after a couple of years. It all depends how you take care of the rod. I won't use them on my peronal rods anymore. At my age I am worn out after a trip to the bay and it may be two days before I was my equipment. Re: Fuji GOLD locking nut and Saltwater?

Thanks Ellis. I think I am going to pass on the gold nut then. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
