Got a rod here for a guy that loves the Spiral Wraps that I changed his Conventional rods too.
If i put micros on a rod that is not really cast for - distance - is it worth it ? I mean yea less weight , but if all is done is open the bail and drop the bait down 150 - 200 feet to black fish - what would the advantage be ?? Just weight ?? Bill - willierods.com Re: Would they Help ??

I would always opt to use the correct sized guides, which would be the smallest that will still pass the line and any required connections, and hold up to the task at hand.

That does make sense Tom I just had guides set with I think they are 7's. And did not think micros would make a difference No knots yet no real casting. I think he wants to just try them and see if he likes them If he was casting I could see it Like a base rod Better control of the line and better accuracy Bill - willierods.com Re: Would they Help ??

I can't see micros having an advantage there. Some of the stresses of black fishing are pretty strong and may damage the guides. Most likely there is 4 to 8 ounces of lead used so weight savings is moot . The sensitivity when it is setting on the bottom may help on a day when the fish are Only smelling the bait. As you stated he is opening the bail and dropping down. Is this a spinning or conventional outfit? Freddwhy (Rapt-Ryte) Re: Would they Help ??

When you say "micros," exactly what size are you talking about?

He was talking 3's but using 25 lb braid. No knots. I was thinking 4's. I was thinking of looking to see if I can find a smaller transition guides in double foot high frame to keep line off his hand on the fore grip to do the whole system.
