What is the best method for creating small, neat, durable and easily seen alignment dots on a multi-section rod? Re: Alignment dots

I just put a dot of the same ink or paint that I am using to letter the rod, near the rod joint on each side. Then, when applying guide wrap finish, also put finish over the alignment dots. Simple and easy.

With a small straight edge I draw very short lines with opaque white ink in a technical drafting pen
