I realize that epoxy finish and epoxy adhesive are not the same thing. But I have some old epoxy finish that has badly yellowed, almost brown and I would rather not use it for that anymore. My question is whether I should just toss it or maybe save it and use for glueing cork or EVA to the rod blank. I know it might not be as strong as regular epoxy adhesive, but would it be strong enough for either of these simple chores? Has anybody tried old finish for this sort of thing? Rod finishing epoxy (thread finish) is not an adhesive it is a casting resin. Toss it rather than chance it. Re: Finish as adhesive

It'll work for what you mention. I wouldn't use it for mounting heavy duty saltwater type reel seats or unibutt gimbals but it should be fine for mounting grips.
