Looking for slip on gimbal?

Looking for something I've never seen before and am curious if it exists. Have a client that wants gimbals on a couple inshore rods, but doesn't want them to be permanent. These rods have cork grips that are 30mm OD at the bottom of the butt. My suggestion was gimbals with removable covers, but he didn't like the look. Any suggestions? Spiral wrap the rods and he will not need a gimbel Bill - willierods.com Re: Looking for slip on gimbal?

Thanks for the reply Bill, this guy's a little quirky and wants what he wants. I think he's going with 2 more rods so he can have 2 with gimbals and 2 without. Walt Davenport "Roadhouse Rods" Re: Looking for slip on gimbal?

I've been thinking about this since you posted it and I can't think of any method that would work as a detachable gimbal that would not spin on the rod butt making it useless as a gimbal. The nocks on a gimbal help keep the rod aligned - if it's detachable then the rod will spin in the rod holder. A conventional rod/reel will spin around so the reel is facing the water. A spinning rod would not spin - but then you probably would not need a gimbal on the rod at all. Re: Looking for slip on gimbal?

The only thing I can think of is maybe a screw on or screw on and pinned How strong it would be ???? Bill - willierods.com Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
