I'm thinking about building a couple of Tom Morgan glass fly blanks for a fund raiser for TUDAR (trout unlimited driftless area restoration) in a couple months. I figured a couple of glass rods would be perfect for the small, clear spring creeks in wisconsin that the benefit is for. I was wondering if anyone has built on these yet as they are pretty pricy and was wondering if anyone had an opinion on them. Also any other recomendations for fiberglass blanks would be appreciated. Thanks guys. Re: Tom Morgan Glass Blanks

Larry,
I can't speak to the Morgan blanks other than by their reputation, which is excellent but since you asked for recommendations on other glass blanks I can offer this. I recently finished a neat little 7' - 4wt on a Kettle Creek, Riffle series blank and it is one sweet little rod at a modest price. I took it to our local fly shop and let the guys put it through it's paces and everyone raved about it. Good luck on your endeavor. Larry Powers Wisconsin's Driftless Area. Larry,
TM just started shipping them recently. So to find and opinion may be a little tough. There is 2-3 month waiting list last I heard. They are pricey and I don't thing you would do any better using a Morgan as opposed to a less expensive blank. I wouldn't do it. Mike McFarland may have something in stock, but he is no longer selling blanks. There's a wait for Steffen Bros. and Kabuto. Mike Carlson may chime in on this. He may have something for you, TL Johnson or vintage Hardy. There is options out there that would be far less expensive than a Morgan for use as a fundraiser rod. Lane Re: Tom Morgan Glass Blanks

WOW, someone recommending NOT doing something without first hand knowledge!! If there is a waiting list, it didn't apply to me, as I got mine in 1 week.
Tom Morgan represents top quality and the blanks are being made by Kerry Burkheimer another top notch quality guy. Re: Tom Morgan Glass Blanks

There is a waiting list for some models, but others he has on hand. I would contact Tom and ask what he has available.
There is an e-mail link on his page and he will reply personally. Walt Natzke Ripon, CA Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
