Help with attaching guides.

Hello & thanks for reading this. I've decided to learn how to attach guides to a rod and I'm not sure where to begin. The guides are easily acquired from my local sporting goods store. After that, I'm lost. They will be going on an old zebco rod I got from a pawn shop. While I would like to attach them in the manner they are usually attached, I am curious if they can be attached using zip ties. Back to the rod, all of the guides are off the rod, save the guide on the tip. I am planning on replacing that guide & placing guides along the length of the rod. The handle is still in usable condition and will not need any work done to it.

Once again, thanks for reading this.

Do you mean using zip ties as a permanent attachment?

I use bands cut from surgical tubing. Do a search there are many ways

Whoa I meant to just hold the guides in place while wrapping. Ralph Oquinn did an article in RM a few years ago where he just used, I believed it was just Premagloss to hold the guides in place permanently. No thread used.

Ah. That makes more sense now. Lots for me to ponder until payday gets here.

Patrick, you should get Tom Kirkman's book before you proceed much further. Best reading on this planet.
