I made my first attempt at the Abalone Shell Inlay Strips I got from Mudhole. This is the stuff meant to be applied with heat, not the crack & roll stuff. I followed the video directions as closely as I could. It turned out okay, but I still had a couple of issues taht maybe could be helped by some of you's duders here. My two issues are as follows: 1) I had some cracking in areas that I could not get to lay down, and 2) I had a couple areas break apart off the edges as I was burnishing. The obvious answer is "don't put as much pressure on the edges," but I was being very careful about the amount of pressure I was applying.
Any input for my problems? AC FishinFreaks Rogers, MN Re: Abalone Shell Inlay Strips - Heat Method

If you cannot make Kevin's seminar at ICRBE, then his video is the next best thing. Re: Abalone Shell Inlay Strips - Heat Method

Well, First I feel like i have to tell youthat I am not a you`s duder so I`m not sure if I am right about this. Just last week I did my first one and the areas which was heated the most seem to lay down better. this happened only at the beginning afterward I gave it a little more heat and all was well. Maybe a coincidence, or I may actually be a you`s duder and be right.

Excellent, Bill. Maybe I need more heat. I was afraid I was overheating the spot that came apart.
Where would I get this video since ICRBE is a 2012 dream? AC FishinFreaks Rogers, MN Re: Abalone Shell Inlay Strips - Heat Method

No DVD needed folks..... I just can't justify it at this point.
Aaron, I will get back to you after the show as I can't say more at this point, but stay tuned. The whole ballgame just changed and I am the ONLY one with this veneer. Kevin Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
