Is sulky thread a good thread for guide and butt wraping, it looks a little thin? Re: sulky thread

I have not used a lot of Sulky threads but the few I have used I wouldn't use for holding guides as it had the weakest breaking strength of any thread I've used. For decorative work however, it is just fine. Raymond Adams Eventually, all things merge, and a river runs through it.. Re: sulky thread

The Sulky Sliver thread which is just a flat plastic strip is completely useless for anything but decorative work. The Sulky Metallic thread is excellent, and one of my favorite wrapping threads. It is thin, but it is very strong and very smooth for a metallic thread, the colors are excellent I just wish they had more variety. Re: sulky thread

I'm with Mike, the Sulky metallics are by far and away the best metallics I've ever used and they seem (no testing here) to be a lot stronger than other metallics out there, the foil over part is way stronger than most. They do need more colors!

I bought some of this sulky thread from a JoAnns fabric store here. for 165 yd spools it was regularly 4.59 but they ran it on sale for 1/2 price they had well over 50 or 60 colors. Re: sulky thread
