My 1st. post people, so be gentle. Why cant I use polyester thread on guide wraps? My wife has tons of this stuff in her sewing thread box and has'nt used them in years. Sure would save a bunch of $ if I could get away with using this stuff. I'm rebuilding two old rods my dad wrapped 30 years ago. Re: rod wrapping thread-polyester?

Try a test wrap on somethin. Size 40 embroidery thread will work. You will need to use color preserver on it to keep it from becoming blotchy and if it's lubricated with a silicone to keep the finish from forming fisheyes. Re: rod wrapping thread-polyester?

I use a lot of polyester and like Jim said, most use a silicon lubricant for machine use but CP will take care of any problem Mike (Southgate, MI) If I don't want to, I don't have to and nobody can make me (except my wife) cuz I'm RETIRED!! Re: rod wrapping thread-polyester?

I built my first rod with nylon sewing thread and it worked fine. I used CP and Gudebrod One-Part finish. Re: rod wrapping thread-polyester?

Unless it's some real specific color, just about all the thread I use is Coats and Clark Tribobal polyester, 40 weight. I've used dozens of colors, for several years, and never once had any kind of fisheye problem, so I don't think this thread is coated. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
