Has anyone used PC-7 for setting reel seats? i have a ton of it and was wondering how it would work. Its worked great for anything i have ever used it on. I have a bunch of it and would like to use it up if it would work ok. Kevin Gross Many men will spend their whole life wondering if they made a difference. It will work, sort of. PC-7 is a heavy, thick gap filling epoxy. It doesn't do well, however, in close fitting assemblies which your reel seat to blank/arbors should be. Frankly, I'd opt for one of the gel type epoxies. They're better suited for the task at hand.

I use it for butt caps on large rods and reel seats where i need an epoxy that fills. It holds fine but can be hard to clean up so be careful not to get it on the outside of the seats or grips. Also it will show at the reel seat and grip joints if you use too much.

I used it 20 years ago. When I started building again, I couldn't find it locally. I disassembled 3 old rods and the PC-7 was in great shape. I also discovered the new epoxies are much better to work with. If I had some of it I would use it. It is a lot heavier though! I like the new epoxies better.
