What tops are you using with minima guides

Im going to try some minima 4 guides on a couple of rods. One will be a 4 wight fly rod the other a spinning rod. My question is that the smalles the model p tops come is ring size 6 and the model mv tops are hideous in my opinion. I was planning on using size 4 running guides on each rod. I may just go with the model p ring size 6 on the fly rod, but on the spinner, it is a 5 foot ultralite and that thing looks huge. Trying to decide between using another size 4 guide as a top or maybe going to different style top. Anybody have any good suggestions. Why the heck cant they just make some smaller tops. LOL

I Used minima 4's on 4wt 6 months ago and bought the guides and long with a properly sized top from Ron Schneider. He has the guides and matching tops on his specails page.

Phil i recently finished a 4 weight fly using Minima 4's in a 4 ring as running guides and used a 4 fly in TiCH. Works OK and no issues. On spinning the best for me so far has been ALPS in ring 6.

The Pac Bay "Minima" rings are roughly tthe equivilant of the next size up Batson Creamic ring.
So a sz 04 Minima will match a sz 05 ring top.
To keep it as light as possible, try the Batson "Micro" tops, unbraced like a fly top, but with a hard insert.
We carry them in Blkframe/Gold ring, Blk/Blk, and Silver/Blk.
Here is a link;

Also in braced sz 05ring,

I like to use a #6 CFAT chrome Alconite tip. They are nice and light and close to the size and looks of the #4 Minima guides. It also gives you a ceramic ring at the spot where most of the wear is going to occur.

According to this, there are now size 4 ring Minima tops available.

Pac Bay is coming out with some even smaller Minima guides. they are supposed to be available anytime and hopefully can be had at the ICRBE. I believe they are also coming out with tops as well in smaller sizes. Check with Karen at Bingham

Phil,

Besides the options mentioned above American Tackle has the 316SS braced micro tip-tops with nanolite or duralite inserts . Also Fuji has a new model BMCAT Alconite micro tops.

As Lou said A TiCh loop fly top might be the ticket. Light and takes considerable abuse.
