NCP thread and epoxy

I have finished a few rods now and can see how the epoxy soaks into the thread. My next rods i was going to use NCP thread. From what i have read NCP thread does not soak up any epoxy. My question is this. Do you get a weaker wrap with NCP thread being the epoxy does not penetrate it?

NCP thread works just fine ... no problems at all. There could be a minor reduction in strength, but it wouldn't be enough to make a difference. Remember, the THREAD holds the guide - the epoxy simply protects that binding. IF you have any doubts, do a set of test wraps - wait one week and try to tear them both off, you will find them both to be of ample strength.

I rarely wrap with anything other than NCP thread and have never found any issues all the way from my 2wt's to my unlimited trolling rods.

The two threads, NCP and non-NCP probably "soak up" epoxy at about the same rates. The reason NCP stays more opaque is due to the additive (supposedly chalk), not because the epoxy is not soaking it.

I agree with Jim , I have been using NCP thread for years the only difference I notice its a looks a little dull when epoxy is applied.

NCP thread does not have the - sparkle - look like regular nylon. I only use regular cause I think it looks better. CP on regular nylon does not weaken it.

IMO, Strength won't be an issue whether you use nylon, NCP polyester or metallic thread. Finish protects the thread from damage, not the guides. I have used all them on rods with no problem
