Ive coated my thread with CP can I take a hair dryer and speed up the drying process? Trying to understand more abt rod bond . Its been 1 day after applying rod bond its massed together but still has a rubbery constancy to it is it going to stay like that or will it get solid like the Dovcon 2 ton glue ? thanKs Re: heating color preserve, rod bond

On the CP: some you can heat some you will get crystals in it if you heat it, depends on the brand.
You CAN heat flexcoat CP. I do it all the time with a hair drier on low. But don't assume just because the surface is dry its ok to coat with epoxy, depending how thick you put it on, and how many coats, it can still be wet underneath. My rodbond and quickbond both dry to a hard consistency i can work with power tools like drills and sanders as well as by hand. I even dye them with Testors to get different colors and they still dry out great. Re: heating color preserve, rod bond

You can experiment with every step but each experiment has consequences. CP dries overnight so put it on late in the evening and you won't get any surprises when you apply finish the next day. Rod bond can be mixed so that it seems more flexible by not using one-to-one ratio by additional resin. More tinkering. Mix it correctly and forget about it. It'll do what its supposed to do on its own. Devcon 2 has it's own characteristics - it dries more brittle - and can be crystallized with heat applications after it cures . Find applications for each product and use them wisely. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
