A gentleman brough by a 11' all aluminum telescopic fly rod that is in need of two guides.Althought I have never seen a fly rod of this lenght.
Not only that, but the guides are not wrapped on with thread. The feet of the guides are bent down and pushed through two holes in the rod,the they are bent back straight to hold the in. My question is , this rod is in need of the stripper guide,10mm and the next guide 8mm. They are s/s and the feet are real thin as so you can bend then to go through the holes. Has any Rod Builder ever seen these type guides and do you think they could be found?? All and any information appreciated in advance. <<<<DON>>>> The rod is a Radi-Rod Automatic MFGD By SouthBend. I've seen them - I inherited one about 35 years ago and actually fished with it.
I doubt you'll be able to find those guides anywhere today. If you could find some of the older Fuji thin stamped steel guides from the 70's, it might be possible to rework the feet and make those work - the feet were extremely thin and flexible. ............. Re: << In search of Fly Rod guides >>

Thanks Tom, I was affraid of that. This is the first time I've seen a fly rod of this nature. My first thought was it must take two men and a boy to fish with it. My second thought was it would make a good gigging pole for frogs. My search goes on?? <<<<DON>>>> Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 10/31/2010 04:32PM by Donald Newenhouse.
